At the moment Maj-Britt is playing the female lead in A child is Born, at Grønnegade Theatre. A play about the grief for a loss of a child. A play about moving on. 1.-21.dec. 2011 Over the next 6 months will Maj-Britt on and of be working in Vienna. Amongst others with filmdirector Dieter Berner. Maj-Britt just curated a festival for independent stageart in Denmark. 10 of Denmarks most prominent groups will perform and Volker Schmidt from Austria is brought in to direct a fast forward version of Night Asylum. The performance takes place in the future - where the artitsts has no place to stay, no stage to perform on - thus left to garbage. See program Theatre Ny Aveny. Maj-Britt recently received funding from the Danish Arts Counsil to her coming performance- HABE KEIN ANGST. A collaboration between Maj-Britt's theatre ECLECTIC and artists from Syria, New York, India, Iceland and Germany. As actress Maj-Britt performs in the adaptation of Blixen i DREAMERS at the HAMLETSTAGE- Kronborg and as curator and producer just finished the opening of the brand new CULTURE HOUSE AND CONCERT HALL also in Elsinore As producer Maj-Britt collaborates closely with director Ditte Maria Bjerg.At the moment on the lecture performance MADE IN INDIA. Work will be shown ini Frankfurt. |
Maj-Britt Mathiesen is a professionally trained actress from S.R.U. in Pittsburg plus the Lee Strasberg Institute and William Esper Studio in New York. As a film and theater actor Maj-Britt consistantly studies with the internationally acclaimed Method expert Debra Wiley She also studied at The St. Petersburg Arts Academy in Russia, specialising in the techniques of Stanislavski and Meyerhold.
Maj-Britt has recently contributed with chapters to a book on acting techniques for the publishing house Frydendal. She also writes plays for various theatres and performance venues and occasionally works as a choreographer for Danish designers.
Maj-Britt works as a mentor for the Danish Art Counsil, and is boardmember of U.S (independent stage artists) and Creative Forum(a counsil under the mayor of Copenhangen working to improve the conditions for Danish artists)
Maj-Britt also works as a producer. She is currently the producer for Ditte Maria Bjerg’s next production Made in India – Global Stories. Their next production about surrogate morthers in India will be opening in Frankfurt October 2010.
Maj-Britt has also specialized in organizing work shops for international artists and teachers in Copenhagen, Paris and Berlin. Latest collaboration was with Richard Foreman and Willem Dafoe, who gave Masterclasses and artist talks for Danish artists in Copenhagen.
Maj-Britt is co-founder of the theatre production company ECLECTIC. EKLEKTISK.DK - produces performances in Denmark and abroad. ECLECTIC always seeks to collaborate with foreign artists and artists from other branches. Tolerance, diversity and curiosity is their trademarks. EKELKTISK.DK Strives to tell stories about relations; human, spiritual and political, and about our responsibility as human beings – Homo Sapiens in a modern urban society and in a global world. Eclectic is now preparing for their upcoming theatre production in 2011-2012. An international collaboration with artist from Scanidinavia, the US and Syria.
